Ultimately more than 750 acres—approximately 70 percent of the original Playa Vista Master Plan site—will be devoted to parks and open space. In all, twenty-three active community parks at Playa Vista of varying size will offer a broad range of recreational experiences, social interaction and cultural opportunities, not only for Playa Vista residents but for residents of all neighboring communities.
To the right are the Westchester Bluffs that line the southern section of Playa Vista. Below a creek dotted with snowy egrets, frogs, and ducks form the base of this thick green vegetation. The numerous parks have activities that range from children's play, dog recreation, chess, picnics and barbecues to jogging, baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and competitive gardening. These parks will be easily accessible throughout the community, and will be connected by a network of paths, sidewalks and nature trails. To the right of this country setting is the large dog park while next to it is a smaller park for little dogs. The field is lined with wood chips. There are seats and water for visitors and dog.
In the east most section of Playa Vista residents have access to private gardens to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. It's a perfect setting to select your produce then stop by neighboring Yummy grocery store to pick up additional items. Residents never have to leave the community.
Most people know Concert Park which is directly across from the retail shops. In the summer residents and visitors enjoy concerts and movies at night reminiscent of drive-ins complete with free popcorn and sodas. A homemade bake sale has $1.00 brownies and cookies. Concert Park also hosts numerous parties with free games, prizes, dancing, pie-eating contests and much free food.
Below is an out-of-the-way park with huge metal birds and cages. Children can wander through this park and sit in the cages peering our at the plants and real birds that are attracted to this hide away. Many such small one-of-a-kind parks fill the Playa Vista area. Every turn is a charming surprise in Playa Vista. Parents typically bring their children to play in the seven acre sport's park, then study at the Playa Vista library, later wander through the numerous parks, and finally stop off at one of the retail shops like Coffee Bean for a treat. What a place to make a day of it. Let resident real estate agent, Dale Ross, drive you around touring these parks.
