Concerts in the Park

This summer the "Concerts in the Park" brought a wide range of musicians.  Residents and nonresidents, young and old, danced to various beats.  Some of the concerts could barely house the enormous crowds on the acre and-a-half Concert Park.  It was best to arrive early for these events.  The first 2009 summer concert of Playa Vista. What a day. The band, the Pine Mountain Logs, did an outstanding job. Everyone loved them.

    Fall Festival

Every Fall Playa Vista hosts the Fall Harvest in October.  The events are filled with dancers, pie-eating contests, ballon-making, and games with stuffed animal prizes. Attendees crowded around the booths that lined the south area of Concert Park where they could gather city information, receive free skin and hair samples from Playa Beauty and eat chocolate dipped apples from the local grocery store, Bristol Farms.  Popcorn and other candy giveaway candies made sure that no one starved.

Playa Vista Pool Party

If you came to the pool party this year you would have danced, had a balance contest on a surfboard, got your face painted, and ate outstanding food.  It was the place to be.

                                                              Migration Celebration

Bird-watchers, children and local residents gathered at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh each Spring for the annual Migration Celebration. Scheduled to coincide with Earth Day week, the event is co-hosted by the Audubon of California, Ballona Wetlands Conservancy, Ballona Wetlands Foundation, Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and Playa Vista Community Services.

Pancake Breakfast

Playa Vista's new Fire Station continues to invite hundreds of residents and friends to pancake breakfasts. After the breakfast people crowded into the station for tours, kids sat in the firetrucks, and residents bid on benefit items like dinners and gift baskets.  Those that worked other fire station breakfasts said it's always a huge success, double the turnout.
